Would you allow me to ask you to grant me, in exchange, a few moments of your day next Wednesday, the 13th, around 4 o'clock in the afternoon? Tuesday and Thursday, as you know, belong to the Académie française. I feared you would leave home immediately, although we are very close neighbors if, as I think, you live near your father.

Believe me, sir, that the kind intentions you have shown me are too precious for me to postpone them by a day without regrets, and I am only comforted by the assurance of being able to listen to you and see you with more calm, and to express that no one in the world could be more willing than I am to seize every opportunity to please you.
