Signed autograph letter "Édit Piaf" to a friend Paris, June 6, 1946, 1/2 p. In-4° on her glossy letterhead Traces of period creases, annotation "to be classified" in another hand. A flavorful declaration from the singer about her love life. Dear friend, I wish for you in life to be as happy as I am at this moment, even with a man who doesn't love me! Is La Môme referring to Jean-Louis Joubert (director of the Compagnons de la chanson), with whom she was in a relationship until 1948? However, this letter is reminiscent of a line from Jean Cocteau's play "The Indifferent Lover," a one-act monologue created in 1940 at the Théâtre des Bouffes-Parisiens by Édith Piaf and Paul Meurisse.

Édith Piaf portrayed the female role facing a distant lover, on stage as well as in life.
