From his property at Vieux Phare. Written in brown ink on a sheet of watermarked laid paper. The front of the original stamped and postmarked envelope is mounted on a tab on the back of the letter. An old collector notes in pencil that this is the last letter of the playwright and poet, a claim that may be somewhat presumptuous, as he only passed away the next day.
It is also noted that the letter might have been written by Yvonne de Bray, his wife, but signed in Bataille's hand. "Dear Sir, I will think of you when the opportunity arises, and believe in my best regards." Dimensions: 13.4 x 17.7 cm.
