Robida and Fort were supposed to meet about a manuscript they were to browse together, a collaboration between the two friends, "but events got in the way." His brother and family arrived from Compiègne "fleeing under the shells." Robida is afraid for his city, his town hall, and his "belfry with its magnificent silhouette. I sometimes dream of it; I am so afraid I will no longer find it," also fearing for the city of Reims where Paul Fort was born.

But "while working on his watercolors, time seemed less long to me." He hopes that "the author and the bibliophile will have been satisfied with the whole. Girard about it (most likely Antoine Girard, a friend of Paul Fort).
